Action Point 2.1 ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

 

1. The Issue or Problem
Perceptions and actual incidences of anti-social behaviour in Ringmer.

 

2. Specific evidence of the importance of the issue to Ringmer People
497 respondents to the Questionnaire do not always feel safe at night, 186 feel unsafe on occasions and 25 people feel unsafe a lot of the time. 590 feel safe all the time, (Q20).
341 respondents reported that they had experienced burglary or some form of vandalism to their property within the last 5 years, (Q21).

 

3. The Action
(a) To increase police presence and improve call centre response (already improved since December 2002).
(b) To maintain and develop communication between residents, police, college, the youth service and other local organisations.

 

4. How it will be tackled
(a) Regular meetings between Cllr Stuart Bean, Parish Liaison Officer and senior police officers.
(b) Regular police surgery.
(c) Public meeting.
(d) Ringmer Police Week.
(e) Detached youth workers on the streets of Ringmer on Friday nights, talking to and engaging with young people - in liaison with police.
(f) Explore further development of Neighbourhood Watch

 

5. Who will do it
Ringmer Parish Council - Parish Liaison Officer - Stuart Bean
Sussex Police - Inspector Dave Padwick and P.C. Mark Cranley.
Ringmer Youth Service.
Janet Skeef - Neighbourhood Watch Web site and Email scheme.

 

6. When should it be done by
Regular meetings between Cllr Stuart Bean, Parish Liaison Officer and senior police officers - on going.
Police surgery - monthly, commencing July 2003.
Public Meeting 27th June 2003.
Friday nights youth workers on streets of Ringmer - on going.
