ACTION PLAN
Achievements
to date February 2004
1.1 DOCTORS' SURGERY.
Discussion is taking place with local Health Authority and Lewes
District Council.
1.2 HARVARD HOUSE.
Veronica Humphrey is keeping up to date with any proposed plans. Nothing
has yet been decided.
1.3 ADVICE/INFO CENTRE
There is a possibility of outreach advice sessions in Ringmer. This
will be followed up later when the youth service implements its proposal
for a club for young parents.
1.4. SINGLE PARENT HOUSEHOLDS
Danielle reported that the youth service has plans for a club for young
parents.
1.5 DISABLED FACILITIES.
Since the last meeting Warren had given an interesting and informative
talk to the Parish Council. He has also accompanied Sue Dunkley, LDC
Access Officer, around the village to investigate disability access
about the village.
1.6 LIBRARY.
Rosemary Colebourne reported that there was now money available for
a new Language Centre at the College. Funding may then be available
to think again about a change of venue for the Village Library
1.7 TENNIS AND CROQUET.
A croquet lawn is planned to be made available during the summer at
the College. This is intended for family groups and will also be available
to Ringmer residents.
2.1 ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR.
Danielle Price and her Youth Team continue to patrol the village some
evenings during the week. A Mobile Youth Bus will be available on the
Village Green for the next ten weeks on a Friday evening. This is a
"drop-in" facility. Reported crime was down for the month of December.
The help of the Special Constable Mike Marchant, together with two new
Police Community Support Officers,
is much appreciated.
3.1 TRAFFIC CALMING.
This is working well. A Plaque has been presented to RADAR from Sussex
Constabulary. This can be seen in the entrance to the Village Hall.
Volunteers are always welcome.
3.2 STREET PARKING.

3.3 CYCLE PATHS.
NTR. Plans depend on the development of The Forges.
3.4 ALTERNATIVES TO PRIVATE CAR TRAVEL.

4.1 TYPE AND LOCATION OF HOUSING.
The second submission of the plan for The Forges went to the Planning
Committee at Lewes District Council. on February 3rd . Following excellent
presentations from representatives from Ringmer and supportive comments
from the district councillors on the Planning Committee, acceptance
of the current plan has been deferred.
5.1 EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES.
Local employers are encouraged to advertise their firms on the Village
Website., www.ringmer.info
5.2 BROADBAND.
This is up and running. Congratulations to all concerned.
6.1 LISTED BUILDINGS

6.2 FOOTPATHS AND STILES.
The new Ringmer Footpaths Booklet with maps has proved to be very popular.
It was sold out by Christmas! A second edition is now available.
6.3 WILDLIFE CONSERVATION.
RCC Science Club continue this project in the Spring with a new Leader.
Cheyney Charity is holding a site visit to its conservation area in
the spring for local residents and groups interested in finding out
about the site and/or getting involved in some way.
6.4 TREE PLANTING.
Ideas being considered include planting fruit trees, a community orchard,
tree wardens. This could improve the environment, reduce CO2 levels
and promote local food production.
7.1 RECYCLING.
Volunteers will be canvassing those households, not already part of
the kerbside collection scheme. 70% of Ringmer households already take
part. Household Waste Composting Bins are now available from Harper
and Eede at the Broyle. The price is £12. The Rascals After School Club
have agreed to help by producing "eye catching" posters.
8.1 YOUNG PEOPLES' FACILITIES.
Fingerpost Field appears to be the most suitable site for a youth shelter.
Local Police and young people have also been consulted. Funding is available.
Local residents are being consulted.
8.2 CINEMA/FILM CLUB.
Ringmer Primary School Home School Association organised a showing of
a film, The Wild Thornberries, in the Village Hall on November 15th
. This was greatly enjoyed by all who attended. It is hoped that similar
events can be arranged in the future. Many thanks to Angela Glaysher
for all her efforts. The newly launched Friends of Ringmer Community
College will also consider the possibility of films/cinema.
