How and why we started

St Mary the Virgin Church, Ringmer, runs a parish project each year to raise money for a deserving cause. Nominations for a Project are invited in the Spring of each year from anyone or any organisation within the Parish and they are assessed on criteria about the issue being of current concern, either abroad, or in Britain - or very local, and the likelihood of money being freely and thankfully given. The target of money to be raised has to be realistically attainable and achieved within the year. In 2003 the charity chosen was St Peter & St James. During that year a group of people not necessarily connected with St Mary's Church join the fundraising team. At the end of the year the fundraising team decided to continue to support the hospice as Ringmer Support Group.
