Broyle Lane

Not all the houses in the present Broyle Lane are the result of the expansion of the village. The Bays is present in both the old post card and the photograph taken in March 2002.

This is Mr. and Mrs. Miller, great, great, great grandparents of Mike Sainsbury who provided this picture. According to Mike's great uncle, they were the overseers/landlords of Broyle Lane. Rent on some of the cottages was ½ crown per week. Mr. Miller was an architect and builder who built homes along Broyle Lane. His own home, The Bays, was built ca. 1840.
