Joan Newth directs 'Shop for Charity' by Charles Mander - a comedy full of colourful characters.
Charity shops.....do they really help the Third World or are they just a sop to the consciences of middle class people who run them...Brenda needs the shop as a refuge from her imaginary attackers and her fellow workers need it to give them a sense of importance. Mr Galbraith visits it because no one else will tolerate him, and his biblical ranting provokes Doris to consider the true nature of charity. If it begins at home where does it end? Cast: Diane Morris, Angela Morrison, Ruth Whitlock, Rita Carver, Nick Hall
Ruth Whitlock directs ‘The Fat Lady Sings in Little Grimley’ by David Tristram This completes the Little Grimley trilogy with a cock-eyed confidence that will delight the faithful. Gordon, Margaret, Joyce and Bernard are back to tackle yet another threat to their survival — this time in the shape of a rival am-dram, newly-formed in their village, determined to upstage them with an award-winning musical. The querulous quartet pull together to devise an ingenious military-style plan that doesn't, well, go quite to plan. When their subterfuge is discovered by the rival society's psychopathic front-of-house manager, he's none too pleased. Add in a few emotional complications for Gordon, and things look a little grim for Little Grimley. Could this finally be the end of their society? Don't be so sure. It's never over ... until the fat lady sings. Cast: John Turner, Sue Hall, Anne Woodbridge, Alex Peaple
Diane Morris directs ‘Blue Suede Blues’ a comedy by Diana Raffle:
Grace and Lily reside in a nursing home with little to do but witness the senile capers of other residents. Grey haired and wrinkled Grace may be, but she is determined to add a dash of spice to her life to break the tedium. She gets the unwilling Lily involved in helping her kidnap the young care assistant Pansy for a ransom of a bottle of gin, a packet of fags and a budgie! Unfortunately things do not go according to plan with hilarious results. Cast: Joan Newth, Laura Riggs, Alex Peaple, Angela Howard, Christine Newnham |
